There is no prettier site, I think, than Paris when the sun is setting, and this time I witnessed it from the top of the Arc de Triomphe. The Arc itself is smack-bang in the middle of the Etoile roundabout, and at the end of the world famous Champs-Élysées.
There’s quite a few steps up to the top (there is a lift but it currently isn’t working) but the pain is worth it!
You can see for miles in all directions, and the above is looking west towards La Défense, a huge commercial centre (technically) just outside of Paris.
And of course, the Eiffel Tower to the south-west-ish.
And then there’s Montmartre and the beautiful Sacre-Cœur to the north. There’s a handful of telescopes dotted around the top of the Arc which can be used (for a fee) to get a close up of the various sites and landmarks of Paris. Connie won’t mind me sharing this, maybe less than attractive, candid:
The full album is available to view on my Flickr page, along with some other photos that didn’t make it to the blog.
